Christmas ornaments you can make...

Posted by Picasa

Some years you just have to shake things up a little. I made these cute little ornaments and hung them over the mantel, on the tree and from the dining room light.
You can use any size Styrofoam ball. New plaid flannel or from an old shirt. Cut into small strips and wrap around the ball and pin at the top, continue until the ball is covered. Add a T pin at the top to tie a ribbon from. I think I will try to make some using large balls and hang them outside on the front porch. Check back and see how this works out.....!

In case you haven't heard....Christmas is coming!

I have been working on a few things around the house to get ready for christmas. Last night I stamped flour sack dish towels with a ball jar stamp. I am using them as a way to wrap Pound cakes that I have been baking. I have baked and given pound cakes to family and friends for years and needed a new way to present them. I hope they enjoy the new dish towel as much as I did making them.

Whether you are finding great stuff on Craigslist like this girl, or at antique stores and estate sales, it is fun to see how great you can make your house look with your unique finds!

Christmas Decor Idea: Large Pinecones

We love the look of natural and more rustic Christmas decorations... thinks linen ribbon, burlap, pine cones and live greenery. Of course, a little "bling" can be mixed in to if that makes it feel more holiday! One great way to play on the rustic is to use large pinecones for decorating. We have a whole bin of them in the booth right now, and I am so smitten with the way they look! Here are a couple of ideas for how to use them:

Both photos are from Mrs. French, visit them for more ideas like these!

P.S. As always, if you are interested in purchasing some large pinecones from us and can't make it to Tin Pan Alley, just shoot us an email and we'll get some out to you tomorrow! We hope to have a more official web store soon, but until then, never hate to send an email!

and checking it twice? Can you believe it's almost time to start thinking about that holiday shopping list? Well, get a jump start on it and don't forget to join us at the Oxford Holiday Market at the Oxford Conference Center on November 13, 2010 from 9-5. Admission is $5 and there will be tons of great stuff to check out at the Rambling Road booth, as well as the other vendors!

oh, such good stuff....

I can hardly tell you how good the stuff we loaded in yesterday is.... October has flown by and stuff has been flying out of the booth! I didn't even get time to show you a gorgeous chest of drawers that sold in a matter of days!!

Here is a sneak peak/ up close photo of some chairs that are to die for. The details on these chairs make them so unique, and they are very comfortable!

and here is the front... The pair ( did I mention that there were two?) are covered in gray linen on the front and back is done in burlap. They are old, and thus very heavy and the upholstery job is very well done. I love the nail head, burlap and linen combination! When I picked them up from the upholstery place the man told me that "they just don't make chairs like this anymore...."

How cute are those bike/ owl pillows? I'd be lying if I said they didn't almost just come home with me...

This wood carved deer head is a must have also, especially if you like the look of antlers but maybe don't want the real thing? sort of like faux furs for your house? The painting in the photos is from Sugarboo Designs, which many people saw on Brooke's blog when she was doing her nursery. I think it is called 2 heads are better than 1, and looks like it was made to go with those chairs.

The glass front cabinet is also a new addition to our space and is much prettier in real life than these photos show.
This teak book shelf ( and out of focus photo!) is on SALE! We marked it down to an amazing price yesterday along with a few other items we need to move in order to make room for some holiday goodies... so, if you are in Oxford/ Taylor this weekend stop by or as always you can email us if you see something that interests you!

Southern? maybe......

Don't you love to walk down the street and see front doors with a fresh new "something" on the door? It just says welcome and come on in!!! It doesn't have to be a holiday to give that front door a fresh smile on it's face. But it is a new season and now is a good time to think about putting a smile on your front door. If you need any help drop in the shop for a few ideas or drop me an e-mail and I will show you a few fun things I am working on. We got this great ribbon in, burlap and linen, that I am having so much fun with. Don't forget to put a smile on your door today!!!
